Review | City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Title: City of Bones
Author: Cassandra Clare
Publisher: McElderry

Pages: 512

Rating: 5/5

"When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder - much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing - not even a smear of blood - to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know....

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end."

The Review;

City of Bones is a thrilling debut novel that will have your foot constantly moving as the plot twists and turns.

The characters in the book are very realistic. Each of them have flaws and things they're great at. Our main character, Clary, is a spunky red head who witnesses a 'murder' that sends her spiraling in a world she never knew existed. Jace is your sarcastic, fight-loving bad boy in the novel. His character was my favorite. But don't think that the other characters aren't any more amazing because I didn't list them..'cuz, well, they are. Awesome that is.

The writing was phenomenal. It gave you just the right amount of back story, emotion, action and descriptions that you could ever want in a book. They were never too much or too little, just perfect. And for a debut novel? That's awesome! The plot was perfect as well. This is my type of book; all things paranormal with some love mixed in. The world Cassandra created is amazing. Can I live there? Anyways...

Overall, I highly recommend that you pick up this series. It will have you nervous with the fighting; swooning with Jace and Clary; laughing with how they act; and dazed with how well it's written[:

FTC: I bought this book.
