Review: My Soul To Take by Rachel Vincent

Title: My Soul To Take
Author: Rachel Vincent
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Pages:
384
Rating: 5/5

She doesn't see dead people, but…

She senses when someone near her is about to die. And when that happens, a force beyond her control compels her to scream bloody murder. Literally.

Kaylee just wants to enjoy having caught the attention of the hottest guy in school. But a normal date is hard to come by when Nash seems to know more about her need to scream than she does. And when classmates start dropping dead for no apparent reason, only Kaylee knows who'll be next…

My thoughts:

Kaylee can't see dead people, but she can sense when they're about to die. When that happens, she screams loudly until they do actually die. She can't figure out why she does it, all she knows is that she can't understand the reason behind it. In the captivating novel, we'll find out just that reason....

I've never read anything by Rachel Vincent, all I know is that she doesn't write Young Adult titles. You wouldn't know that with this book, at all. It's a great debut young adult novel. This is an original, thought-out book that anyone will love. There are new aspects you have seen before, swiveled with romance and suspense.

Each of the characters were realistic in many levels. I found them as if they were real people, rather than a fictional character. Each delved into normal teenage-y things, but went even deeper with a deeper secret. I loved that. The relationship between Kaylee and Nash, I have to sadly say, was a tad rushed; but I still loved it otherwise.

In a world of paranormal novels, you'll find werewolfs, vampires, ghosts, even fairies. In this book, you'll find neither of those, instead, you will find something totally different. And Vincent created the story perfectly with something new. And I have to say, I'm a fan of this author now. I just might have to read her adult novels.

Overall, if you're looking for romance, paranormal, or just a book to read on a trip. You're going to love this book as much as I did. I barely found anything wrong with this book, the writing gave great descriptions. A great book, and I can't wait until the next book comes out in January.
